RBC resumes Next Great Innovator Challenge

Toronto-based financial institution RBC has begun a promotion called the "Next Great Innovator Challenge" for a third year. The initiative, aimed at students, encourages entrants to submit a concept, product or process from another part of the world or a different industry that should be adopted by Canadian financial service providers. Students will work in teams of three or four to create a proposal, which must be submitted by Dec. 5. Four submissions will be selected by an RBC judging panel, while online voting at <http://www.nextgreatinnovator.com> will determine a fifth finalist. The final five teams will compete for $45,000 in prizes and a trip to Toronto to present their proposal to RBC executives. "With Canada's innovation performance receiving a near failing grade according to a recent Conference Board of Canada report, it is critical for Canadian businesses to promote and foster a culture of innovation in order to compete on the global stage," said Avi Pollock, head of applied innovation at RBC. "The Next Great Innovator Challenge exemplifies the importance of innovation. It offers RBC the opportunity to tap into new points of view and new ways of thinking. We feel this year's challenge question will allow students to apply their diverse backgrounds, prior experiences, and on-the-ground market knowledge."
