Sponsorship roundup

Canon Canada of Mississauga has signed an agreement with the Canadian Opera Company of Toronto to sponsor its upcoming production of Wagner's Ring Cycle. This is the first time that Canon has sponsored the opera company. Part of the agreement consists of an autograph session that will be held with the cast at the end of each of the three cycles. The production's souvenir book will contain a Canon-branded page for collecting these autographs. The Ring Cycle, which will debut in September, will be the inaugural performance at the new Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

Scotiabank has extended its title sponsorship of the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon for an additional five years. The running event and charity fundraiser is expected to attract approximately 10,000 participants from 30 countries this year. Approximately 40 charities raise money by collecting pledges from runners in the marathon, half-marathon and five-kilometer races. "Scotiabank has been a marvelous sponsor for nine years and this new commitment will allow us to sustain a fast-growing international marathon and community festival," said race director Alan Brookes. The event, which is owned by RCP International, will take place this year on Sept. 24.
