Consumer electronics retailer Best Buy Canada, based in Burnaby, BC, has signed on as a sponsor of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, which will run from June 29 to July 9. Best Buy will sponsor a series of eight free outdoor concerts called “Les Brunantes.” The company will also operate an on-site store selling CDs and DVDs of the musicians performing at the festival.
Global Television has signed on as the official television sponsor of the Calgary Stampede. This will be the first time that the event has had an official television sponsor. Global Calgary, which has been a sponsor of the Stampede for 22 years, will remain the event’s official entertainment sponsor. As part of the agreement, Global will nationally broadcast the Calgary Stampede Parade and the rodeo finals, along with additional coverage through the 10 days of the show. Global Television is a division of CanWest MediaWorks.
