Frito Lay breaks Doritos campaign

Frito Lay Canada broke a new television campaign yesterday to promote a new Doritos flavour called Sweet Chili Heat. The national campaign, called “3 Sides,” consists of three 30-second commercials. All three ads begin the same way, with two men meeting a bear while walking in the woods. Each ad then depicts a resolution to the situation based on an attribute of the new flavour: sweet, bold or hot. In the sweet ad, one man serenades the bear to sleep. In the bold ad, he walks up to the bear and says, “That’s enough,” causing the bear to back down. In the hot ad, the man confuses the bear by pretending to be on fire. The TV ads will be supported by online advertising and a consumer sampling program. The commercials were created by BBDO Toronto, while Proximity produced the online ads. Media buying was handled by OMD.
