YTV, McDonald’s continue Go Active Film Festival

YTV and McDonald’s Canada have resumed for a second year a joint promotion called the “Go Active Film Festival.” The online and on-air promotion invites viewers to submit films encouraging physical activity. During the five-week initiative, which begins today, entrants can use an online movie-making program at YTV.com to create a short film. Random entries will be judged by a panel and posted to the website where visitors can vote on weekly winners. These semi-finalists will be eligible for the Golden Cheeseburger Award, which will include a one-week trip for four to Los Angeles, passes to a theme park and an Apple IPod MP3 player. Voters will also be entered into a random draw for gift certificates. The contest will be promoted with 30-second commercials that will run on YTV for four weeks. “Our viewers are early adopters of technology and respond well to initiatives that empower them to experiment with their creativity in an interactive environment,” said Tim Cormick, vice-president of client marketing at Corus Television. “This promotion brings the concept of user-generated content to the next level in a forum that promotes our brand messages of balanced lifestyles.”
