RedCity buys Zip411

RedCity Search of Toronto has entered into an agreement to purchase Zip411 Enterprises of Montreal for approximately $5.6 million. Both companies specialize in Internet-based city searches. The Zip411.net website allows users to search for business listings, websites and telephone numbers, primarily in Quebec. RedCity operates the websites RedToronto.com, RedMississauga.ca and 411Canada.com. “This acquisition firmly establishes RedCity as the leading local search engine in Canada,” said company CEO Roger Abbiss. “Toronto and Montreal are obviously key to building a strong business in this country and with this deal, we have a substantial and growing base of customers in those centres.” The deal has been approved in principle by both companies, but remains subject to regulatory approval. The acquisition is expected to be completed by June 30.
