AIR CANADA TARGETS KIDS WITH NEW PROGRAM
By Adnews Staff
Air Canada is trying to make flying more fun for kids. The airline began rolling out its Skyriders program March 25 and will have it fully implemented by June 1. Marketel of Montreal created print and TV advertising for the program. The ads will begin next month. The airline is providing children with airport play areas. The youngsters have books to read and travel versions of popular games to play during flights. They are also given packs and travel belts to take home, filled with toys, games and books. In addition, during the peak travel time for kids in the summer, YTV videos will be shown in the air. For their listening pleasure, the kids get an audio channel all year long. There are also meals designed for kids, with Harvey's burgers, chicken fingers and lasagna on the menu. Beginning June 1, kids will be able to join the Skyriders Club. Members will get a travel logbook and an official travel certificate whenever they fly. They will also receive the Skyrider biannual newsletter, called Aerogram, and a birthday postcard. Between June 1 and Sept. 15, members could win one of three family vacations to anywhere in North America, or one of 50 family passes to Canada's Wonderland.
