CBC, Hot Docs ready Hot Docs at Home promotion
By Adnews Staff

CBC has begun a promotion in collaboration with the Hot Docs Festival called “Hot Docs at Home on CBC.” Beginning April 16, a collection of films from the 2020 festival will premiere exclusively on CBC, its streaming service CBC Gem and specialty service Documentary Channel each Thursday. Each broadcast will be accompanied by online question-and-answer sessions with the filmmakers. Hot Docs, an annual film festival specializing in documentaries, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the companies, this initiative is intended to provide a “festival-at-home experience.”
“As we all seek out new content to engage and inspire us and provide a sense of meaning and connection during these unprecedented times, we are partnering with Hot Docs to bring these extraordinary, thought-provoking festival premieres to Canadians at home,” said Sally Catto, general manager of entertainment, factual and sports programming at CBC. “We are grateful to have an opportunity to shine a light on some of our documentary filmmakers during this challenging period for our creative communities, and ensure their voices and perspectives can be shared widely with audiences across the country.”
