New editorial director at Xtra

Rachel Giese has joined Toronto-based Xtra as editorial director. She will begin work on Nov. 5 and will head the editorial staff of the publication in Toronto and Vancouver. Giese was previously a senior editor at The Walrus, deputy editor of The Grid and acting editor-in-chief at EnRoute. She has also written for the Globe and Mail, Chatelaine, Flare, The Hairpin, Real Life, Today's Parent, Flare and NewYorker.com. Xtra is owned by Pink Triangle Press.
