Bell Media, Canadian Film Centre launch VR project

Bell Media and the Canadian Film Centre have begun a new initiative intended to support the development of augmented reality and virtual reality presentations. The "Vision Project" will work to expand CFC Media Lab programming and services aimed at AR and VR companies. According to the organization, the project will develop consumer-facing experiences and seek to identify the tools and software necessary for the commercial delivery of virtual reality. This lab has already produced VR work in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Ontario, Seneca College, the National Film Board, Vice, Secret Location and Occupied VR.

"The impact of VR is already being felt across many sectors and industries, especially entertainment," said Slawko Klymkiw, CEO of the Canadian Film Centre. "The CFC/Bell Media Vision Project will marry content innovation and commerce. Fueled by a shared commitment to incubate original consumer-facing VR and AR properties for possible commercialization, this project represents the vanguard of immersive screen-based entertainment."
