CIBC GIVES VOLUNTEER DOCTORS A HAND
By Adnews Staff
The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce has teamed up with Doctors Without Borders Canada to provide free air travel for the volunteer doctors who provide emergency medical care to people in troubled lands around the world. Under the deal, every time a CIBC Aerogold Visa cardholder uses his or her card during the month of December, CIBC will contribute the equivalent of one Aeroplan mile to Doctors Without Borders Canada. Five million miles is the guaranteed minimum contribution, but CIBC estimates the total donation will reach 7.5 million miles. The miles will be converted into free flight vouchers and used to supply close to 100 flights on Air Canada to doctors and nurses. The program is being promoted using national print ads and statement inserts. The campaign was created by Padulo Integrated of Toronto. The program is the first in a series of promotions CIBC will launch throughout the next year in celebration of Aerogold Visa's fifth anniversary. Doctors Without Borders Canada is the Canadian arm of an international agency with over 2,000 volunteers in 19 countries. The agency's mandate is to "offer assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict, irrespective of their race, religion, creed or political affiliation."
