CATHAY SWITCHES CHINESE AGENCIES
By Adnews Staff
Cathay Pacific Airways of Vancouver has handed the Chinese portion of its account to LLT Advertising (Canada) Ltd. of Toronto. The agency was given the business late last month without a review. Agency managing director David Chan has worked on Cathay's business in Hong Kong in the past. LLT will use English creative and translate it to Chinese, and it will also create Chinese-specific ads. It will also do media planning, as well as create customer loyalty programs and event marketing programs. The incumbent on the account was a small Vancouver agency. MacLaren McCann's Vancouver office handles advertising for Cathay in English Canada. The Chinese population is estimated at about 600,000 in Ontario and B.C. Cathay Pacific has 21 return flights a week out of Canada to Hong Kong.
