Hudson's Bay breaks Country of Adventurers campaign

Hudson's Bay Company has begun a new campaign called "Country of Adventurers." Developed by Red Urban of Toronto, the initiative consists of a series of television commercials depicting the stories of historical HBC representatives and their roles in the exploration and formation of Canada. Each execution is narrated by a modern Canadian adventurer and ends with the tagline, "We Are a Country of Adventurers."

The 60- and 30-second ads will run nationally on specialty and conventional television stations into 2016. They will also be posted online at <http://www.countryofadventurers.ca>. The first execution describes the life of John Rae, a Scottish doctor and arctic explorer who worked for the company in the mid-1800s. The ad is narrated by television personality and survival expert Les Stroud.

"Nearly 350 years ago, in 1670, Hudson's Bay Company was founded as the 'Company of Adventurers trading into Hudson Bay,'" said Richard Baker, governor and executive chairman of HBC. "HBC helped establish the nation and the company archives represent an important part of the story of Canada. That's why the HBC History Foundation is uniquely positioned and committed to telling Canada's rich stories."
