SONY INTRODUCES NEW SERVICES

Sony of Canada Limited unveiled two new programs last month. One is a Sony credit card, while the other is a retail lease-to-own initiative. The credit card program carries no annual fee or pre-payment penalty and makes available a credit line of up to $10,000 to buy Sony products. The card also allows users to take advantage of special Sony finance promotions, such as no payments or interest on purchases for three months. It has an interest rate of 19.9%. The new lease-to-own program requires no down payment from buyers and is designed to fit each customer's budget. A minimum purchase of $1,000 is required and lease terms can run as long as 36 months. The program also carries an early buy-out option allowing customers to pay out the lease without any penalties. The initiatives are being supported by brochures and other point-of-purchase materials produced in-house. Cohn & Wolfe of Toronto is doing PR.
