Canadian Tire marks anniversary of Get in the Game program

Canadian Tire conducted a special event in Hamilton, ON on July 18 to mark the first anniversary of a program involving its Jumpstart charity and Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. Last July, the company launched a national pilot program called "Canadian Tire Jumpstart Get in the Game," intended to assist children participate in organized sports who otherwise would not be able to do so because of the expense. While Jumpstart has worked with Boys and Girls Clubs since 2005, the "Get in the Game" program was the first time the two organizations had conducted a national initiative. The event took place at the Hamilton East Kiwanis Boys and Girls Club, one of 11 clubs participating in the pilot.

"This partnership is a natural fit for Jumpstart, as we share BGCC's belief that quality physical activity and supportive adult mentors help young people build confidence, leadership and creativity, in addition to enhanced health and well-being," said Landon French, vice-president of community relations and Jumpstart at Canadian Tire. "Since 2005, Jumpstart has given over 750,000 children the chance to experience these benefits and our new partnership with BGCC will enable us to help thousands more."
