WWF Canada releases sustainable seafood video

WWF Canada has released a new online video as part of its ongoing "Sustainable Seafood" campaign. The initiative, which is being conducted in association with Loblaw Companies, is intended to raise awareness of the impact of unsustainable fishing practices on the oceans. The 90-second animated video was developed by John St. of Toronto. It depicts a long fishing net being dragged across a farm, picking up plants and animals indiscriminately. It ends with the copy, "We don't farm like this. Why do we fish like this?" The release of the video will be supported with social media activities.

"We wanted to show the impact of unsustainable fishing practices in a way people could relate to," said Stephen Jurisic, executive creative director at John St. "While exaggerated, we felt the unexpected treatment was informative and will start a conversation. It's a question to get people thinking about how we fish and the choices we make in the grocery store every day."
