Metro debuts new website, mobile application

Grocery chain Metro has redesigned its website at Metro.ca and released a new mobile application called MyMetro. The site and application are intended to be used together. Consumers can visit the site to find a store, read the latest flyer, download digital coupons and add items to a shopping list. Application users can then access the list while at the store, as well as consult weekly menus and redeem coupons at checkout. After returning home, the consumer can check the site again for 4,500 recipes and a collection of preparation videos.

"With the rapid transformation of retail in the digital world, purchasing habits in the food industry are changing, and we are determined to stand alongside consumers in a personalized way as things evolve," said Marc Giroux, chief marketing and communications officer at Metro. "Our digital ecosystem was designed to facilitate customers' purchasing cycles, to give them more inspiration and savings and develop an even more personalized relationship with them that takes their needs, tastes and lifestyle into consideration."
