TSN, GM begin fifth Million Dollar Shootout contest

Specialty channel TSN has begun its fifth-annual "Chevrolet Cruze Million Dollar Shootout" promotion in association with General Motors. Consumers can enter online at <http://www.tsn.ca/cruze>. Visitors to the site can gain additional entries by playing an online game or by referring friends to the contest. On Dec. 10, one randomly-chosen entrant will win a trip for six to Buffalo to attend the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship hockey game on Dec. 31. During the first intermission of the game, the contestant will have 24 seconds to shoot 20 pucks into an open net from the far blue line. If the contestant scores 15 or more goals, he or she will win $1 million. In addition, the contestant and two friends will each have 15 seconds to shoot 10 pucks at an open net from centre ice. If five or more goals are scored, the contestant will win a Chevrolet Cruze. If 10 or more goals are scores, all three will win a vehicle. "For the previous four years, Canadians from coast to coast have supported the Chevrolet Million Dollar Shootout promotion with nearly 30 million total online entries, making it a true testament to the strong partnership between TSN and General Motors," said Stewart Johnston, president of TSN. "This year will be no different, as the stage is set once again for one lucky Canadian fan to step up to the blue line at the World Juniors and potentially change their life forever in front of thousands of screaming hockey fans at the arena and millions more watching on TV at home." The contest is being promoted with 15- and 30-second television commercials on TSN and TSN2, as well as a national public relation campaign, online advertising and in-game mentions during hockey broadcasts on TSN.
