International news: VideoEgg buys Six Apart

San Francisco-based online advertising company VideoEgg has agreed to acquire social media company Six Apart, also based in San Francisco, to form a new firm called Say Media. The new entity will combine VideoEgg's advertising system with Six Apart's social media platforms to deliver communities of Internet users to advertisers. According to the company, the combination will allow advertisers to develop marketing communications that are more "conversational and interactive." The company expects to reach an audience of 16 million Canadian users. "Media has fundamentally changed and the new models can't be ignored," said Say Media CEO Matt Sanchez. "Content consumption patterns are being driven by social connections and new types of content creators and aggregators from Huffington Post to Perez Hilton to Angry Birds have built passionate audiences and grown strong media businesses out of the change. Say Media is a media company designed to meet these new challenges and help advertisers find systemic ways to garner attention."
