Food Network promotes The Opener with online game

Specialty channel Food Network Canada has released an online game to promote its new series The Opener. The game, located at <http://www.foodnetwork.ca/theopener>, features show host David Adjey and simulates the experience of opening a new restaurant. This is the first time the channel has used an online game to promote a program. "As an extra layer of our overall marketing campaign for The Opener, the online game is a fun and interactive promotional tool that allows us to further engage viewers in a way we've never done before," said Solange Bernard, director of marketing strategy for lifestyle channels at Canwest Broadcasting. "The premise of the game matches that of the series, reinforcing the fast pace and high stress of getting a restaurant up and running, all within an entertaining and interactive format." The channel is promoting the game with television exposure during the show, as well as with social media activities on Facebook and YouTube. The game was developed by interactive promotions company Launchfire.
