New chief operating officer at Cineflix Media

Toronto-based television production and distribution company Cineflix Media has appointed Andrew Akman to the newly-created position of chief operating officer. He will oversee the company's corporate operations, information technology, and post-production activities, as well as partnerships and acquisitions. Akman was previously vice-president of planning at Shaw Media. Prior to that, he was senior vice-president and chief administrative officer at Canwest Broadcasting. He was also senior vice-president of corporate development at Alliance Atlantis Communications.
