Vaughn Whelan has been appointed executive vice president, national creative director, at BCP Toronto. He will officially join BCP in late September but is already working on specific projects for the agency. Vaughn Whelan & Partners Advertising Inc., also of Toronto, will be absorbed into BCP over time. The 36 year-old Whelan has operated his own company for the last four years, working for clients such as Labatt, Leon's and Radio Shack

Western Broadcast Sales Ltd., has appointed Charlie Gamble to the position of vice president of client development (WIC). His primary focus will be on the relationships between WIC and its advertisers. Formerly Gamble has been vice president of marketing resources at Molson Breweries and senior vice president of media at Leo Burnett. WBS represents 27 television stations in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec

M.J. Jaffray has been promoted to the position of senior associate at McMaster Communications Inc. after two years with the firm. For the past ten years she has worked as a writer, editor and project manager in both corporate and agency environments. MacMaster has also hired Mark Hunter LaVigne as senior associate. Prior to his six years in the field of public relations, LaVigne worked as a radio journalist in Calgary and Toronto. McMaster is a communications consultancy which specializes in the telecommunications, healthcare, environmental and cultural sectors

Wuderman Cato Johnson Canada has spliced some fresh strands into the gene pool. Bryan Tenenhouse has been named associate creative director. He will oversee creative strategy for a variety of clients. This marks a return to Wunderman for Tenenhouse, who originally joined the agency in 1993 as senior writer. Since then he has worked at BBDO Response and Ogilvy & Mather Direct. Also, Wunderman has taken on Norm St. Jules as senior art director. Previously St. Jules worked at Echo Advertising on accounts including American Express and Labatt Breweries. He has also worked at Bates Canada, Germain Advertising and Gray O'Rourke Sussman Advertising. Finally, WCJ has hired Rachael Loates as production assistant. In the past Loates worked at Hughes Rapp Collins on the Loyalty Management Group account, and at TMS Marketing/Thomson & Associates.
