Global Television conducts Glee campaign

Global Television of Toronto has begun a marketing campaign to promote the new season of the program Glee, which will begin on April 13. The campaign began with television teasers ads in late February. Radio advertising will begin in major markets next week. The campaign also includes newspaper advertising, billboards, online advertising on entertainment websites and social media activities. Additional advertising will run on interactive program guide services on the night of the premiere. In Toronto, an a capella singing group will perform at various areas of high pedestrian traffic while promotional workers distribute information about the show. "Glee has built an incredible following since its premiere and has become a worldwide pop culture phenomenon," said Jamie Schouela, vice-president of marketing strategy at Global. "It's finally back and we knew we had a fantastic opportunity to speak to the existing fan base while enticing new viewers to get hooked. We have one more big surprise and Gleeks everywhere are going to love it." Global Television is owned by Canwest Broadcasting. The campaign was developed in-house by Canwest.
