Website roundup

Canwest Broadcasting has redesigned the website of specialty television channel Food Network Canada, located at <http://www.foodnetwork.ca>. The changes include a new visual style, a community for members, an improved recipe search function, more video material and new advertising options. According to the company, this is the first Canwest website to introduce a membership system that allows registered users to create a profile and share information with other users. The new advertising options include banner placement in more prominent locations, advertorials and sponsorship packages. "Our aspiration for the redesigned site is to provide users a platform, not only to find the most inspiring and entertaining lifestyle content available online, but to build a community to share feedback and experiences with others," said Paul Burns, digital media vice-president at Canwest Broadcasting. The site is being promoted with television ads on Food Network Canada, online advertising on Canwest properties and the AOL Advertising.com network, as well as with social networking activities.
