LITERACY GROUP WANTS AGENCIES' HELP
By Adnews Staff
ABC Canada Literacy Foundation launched a fundraising and awareness campaign this week within the Canadian advertising community. The organization is trying to get 26 advertising agencies to purchase a letter of the alphabet and create a double page spread based on the letter. Each letter will be sold for $1,000. The letters will be published in a children's book of ABCs to be available in October through media partners and advertising agencies. Quebecor Printing of Montreal is printing the book. Agencies that have signed up so far include Young & Rubicam, Grey Advertising, Vickers & Benson and Access Advertising, all of Toronto. Media partners include Telemedia Inc., Maclean's Publishing, Advantex and Southam Inc. The campaign is being promoted using PR done in-house by ABC Canada. The book will be promoted the same way. ABC Canada is a charitable organization which raises awareness about literacy, and funds literacy programs.
