By Adnews Staff
Griffin Bacal Volny of Toronto went after one piece of business and ended up with three. Over the past two months, the agency has won the Acklands Ltd., McKerlie-Millen Network and Arrow Automotive Industries accounts. The Acklands Limited account was given to GBV in April. It is launching a trade campaign in August for the company's AutoPLACE chain of mechanical and collision repair facilites. Acklands of Toronto bought the chain of 130 outlets from Autostock Inc. of Montreal. It plans to open 1,000 outlets across Canada over the next two years. Currently the outlets are primarily in Quebec, with a few in Eastern Ontario. As new outlets open local consumer advertising will be take place. It will use print and possibly radio and TV depending on the market. GBV was given the business after Acklands talked to three other agencies.
GBV is also launching a national trade campaign later this month for Ackland's McKerlie-Millen Network of 205 parts suppliers. GBV was given this business at the same time it won Acklands' account.
GBV is launching a trade campaign in mid-summer for Arrow of Mississauga, Ont., which remanufactures auto parts. Trade PR will begin later this month and consumer PR will start later this year. GBV won this business last month without a competition. Arrow is a major supplier to Acklands.
