The National Hockey League has retained Young & Rubicam as its advertising agency of record. The account will be serviced from the agency's Toronto and New York offices. The firm will develop a North American ad campaign to promote the 2007-2008 season. "Young & Rubicam has a strategic understanding of the NHL brand and the enormous appetite of our fan base to consume the game of hockey on many different platforms," said John Collins, senior executive vice-president of business and media for the league. "We wanted a partner that will work with us across North America and has significant resources and creative leadership in Canada. Y&R was the obvious choice." The campaign, consisting of television, arena, print, digital and theatre advertising, will break today. The creative focuses on the passion of the players for the game.
