AIR CANADA PULLS AD LABELLED RACIST

Air Canada has killed a European print ad after complaints that it was politically incorrect and racist. The ad, promoting the comfort of seats given to business travellers, shows an overweight white man with a briefcase sitting in an executive-class recliner. Behind him is an Indian chief in ceremonial clothing holding a spear. The headline for the ad is "Sitting Comfortabull." The tagline is "Business chiefs get more moccasin room." The ad appeared in three publications. It was created by McCann-Erickson Worldwide of Britain. The male native who modelled for the ad is from Alberta.
