GIANT CONDOM CIRCLES TORONTO
By Adnews Staff
Julius Schmid of Canada is using a 36-foot airborne rubber to publicize Durex Shiek condoms. In a promotion which broke this week and runs until July 26, the giant condom banner is being towed over Toronto during rush hour by an airplane doing traffic reports for six radio stations. The stations are airing Sheik commercials as well as up to 90 live announcements a week. The condom will make morning and evening hour-long flights three days a week during the promo. TV commercials featuring the tag line "Get Some" are running nationally. The whole campaign was put together by The Westgroup of Tampa, Florida. PR is being done by Advance Planning & Communications of Toronto. The airplane is the property of SKYWORDS Traffic Network, which provides syndicated traffic reports to Ontario radio stations. Schmid, based in Concord, Ont., is the Canadian distributor of Durex condoms which are made by a British company, London International Group.
