Weekly Scoop ceases publication

Toronto Star Newspapers has ceased publication of celebrity news magazine Weekly Scoop. The last issue of the publications was distributed on June 9. The English-language weekly magazine was aimed primarily at women aged 18 to 49. “This was a difficult decision to make and it is in no way a reflection on the strength of the Weekly Scoop team or the quality of their work,” said Greg Loewen, vice-president of marketing and new ventures at Toronto Star. “Our team produced a first-class publication and feedback from our readers has been very positive. However, the ramp up in newsstand sales has been slower than we had projected.” The magazine debuted in October 2005.
