Toronto Star debuts redesigned website

The Toronto Star has redesigned its website at <http://www.thestar.com>. According to the company, the new site is designed primarily to deliver news to mobile users, while also adapting to screens of other sizes. The visual style of the site has been modified to be more "vibrant" and to make use of additional images. The design is also intended to better serve readers arriving at article pages from search engines and social media sites.

The new design also incorporates changes to the site's advertising system intended to allow for more flexibility and integration. According to the company, the new system takes into account context, behaviour and screen size in delivering ads to consumers.

"We know audiences are increasingly turning to their mobile devices to consume news content," said Chris Goodridge, chief digital operating officer at the Toronto Star. "Our goal was to optimize the reading experience for readers across all screens, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of our growing mobile audience."

The Toronto Star is a division of Star Media Group, which is a division of Toronto Star Newspapers, which is a subsidiary of Torstar Corporation.
