H&R BLOCK PUTS Y&R ON ITS BOOKS

Young & Rubicam in Toronto picked up H&R Block's Canadian ad account last week. After H&R's U.S. parent hired Y&R's New York office, the Calgary-based Canadian subsidiary of the accounting firm followed suit, H&R's Canadian assistant vice-president, Peter Premachuk, told Adnews last week. The incumbents on the Canadian account were Media Buying Services of Toronto and Allard Communication-Marketing of Montreal. Y&R won the U.S. business in a competition with Leo Burnett USA and DDB Needham, both of Chicago, Campbell Mithun Esty of Minneapolis and Publicis/Bloom of Dallas. The incumbent on the U.S. business was Bernstein-Rein of Kansas City, Missouri. Y&R's Sydney office has the H&R account in Australia.
