FEDEX TO GIVE CUSTOMERS ELECTRONIC LINKS

U.S.-based Federal Express is bringing its FedEx Ship software to Canada in the spring. Customers with personal computers, modems and printers will be able to communicate on-line with FedEx to do things such as book courier pick-ups and print shipping documents. In fact, they'll be able to complete entire shipping transactions. The software will be available for free from FedEx. Customers will be able to connect with FedEx by dialling local or 1-800 numbers. The software will be publicized with advertising from BBDO Canada of Toronto. The program coming to Canada is an updated version of one that FedEx has been using in the U.S. since 1994. Earlier this month, Federal Express Canada launched its World Wide Web site, designed by E-Commerce for FedEx customers shipping from Canada. Computer users linked to the Web can download a Canadian version of FedEx Document Preparation software, locate the nearest FedEx drop box, order supplies and send e-mail to company representatives. They can also complete an application for a Fed Ex account.
