FORD RED-FACED OVER WHITE FACES

Ford Motor in Europe was greatly embarrassed when it got caught super-imposing white faces on black and South Asian workers in photo for a company brochure done by Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide of London. The original photo of black, Indian and Pakistani employees, alongside their white co-workers, was taken for a British brochure. The photo was deemed unsuitable for a Polish brochure because it didn't accurately portray the ethnic mix in Poland where the population is practically all white. Instead of taking a new photo, Ford doctored the British one to make everyone white. At this point Murphy's Law kicked in and the Polish version of the photo found its way into the U.K. brochure. This caused great upset among the workers who saw themselves with new white faces and other parts. Ford apologized and paid the employees about $2,000(US) each.
