THE RINX OPENS FOR BUSINESS
By Adnews Staff
The Rinx of Toronto opened it doors last weekend. Howard Orfus, the owner of Orfus Realty, has built an 80,000-square-foot complex with facilities for hockey, inline skating, ball hockey and a game called Whirlyball, which has players scuttling around a modified basketball court in little cars. The Rinx has fan seating for 400, eight dressing rooms, three meeting rooms, a video arcade and a 60-seat sports bar. The complex is being pitched as a place for corporations and charitable groups to gather for work-related events such as sales meetings, and then put on the sweat clothes to take part in some sporting fun. Print and radio advertising for the complex began last week. It was created by FC&D Advertising of Toronto.
