PIZZA CAMPAIGN OUT OF CONTROL

A Pizza Hut outlet in Barrie, Ont. had to ask on-air personalities at a local radio station last month to shut up. In an Ontario publicity push handled by Toronto-based Spectrum Public Relations, the new Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza was sent out to DJs, with the hope of getting plugs on-air. However, the Barrie restaurant in question had to ask radio station CFJB-FM to stop talking about the pizza because it was receiving more orders than it could cope with. A TV campaign highlighting the stuffed crust pizza began last month in Canada. Created by Toronto-based BBDO Canada, the TV spot features Don Cherry and sportscaster Don McLean.
