By Adnews Staff
U.S.-based Hewlett-Packard and Dell Computer Corp. are putting their first Pentium-based notebook computers on the North American market. HP is bringing out the HP Omnibook 5000CT and the 5000CTS in the fall. The machines are extensions of the 4000 line. They have a 90 megahertz Intel Pentium processor and one-gigabyte hard-disk drive, along with an instant-on feature which gives users immediate access to applications without rebooting the system. Dell is introducing its first Pentium notebooks by the end of this month. The two machines are part of Dell's Latitude line of computers. Called the Latitude XPI, they use either a 75 or 90 megahertz microprocessor. In addition, Dell has upgraded its Latitude LX and Latitude XP computers giving them larger screens. Advertising for the entire line of Latitude computers began this week using print created by Goldberg, Moser & O'Neill of San Francisco.
