INVESTORS TO SET UP BROKERAGE
By Adnews Staff
Investors Group of Winnipeg is expanding out of mutual funds and setting up a brokerage arm to sell stocks, bonds and other securities. The move is "a reflection of a strategic review process we've been undergoing," company spokesperson Linda Dunwoody told Adnews last week. "There may be other steps," she said. The company has filed an application with the Investment Dealers Association of Canada to register Investors Group Securities. Current advertising is done by Palmer Jarvis Advertising of Vancouver and Blouin Coulombe Dubé Thompson of Montreal. Investors officials were unavailable to comment on how brokerage advertising will be handled. Currently Investors sells its own mutual funds and deals in mortgage loans, registered savings plans and insurance. The company hopes to have the new business running by early 1996, in time for the RRSP selling season. Philip Taylor, former senior sales and marketing executive for Canada Trust Security Services, has joined Investors Group Securities as president and CEO.
