TD begins video game promotion
By Rob Bale
TD Bank Group has begun an online initiative intended to provide financial education to children. The effort consists of a free game called “Treat Island Tycoon” hosted on online video game service Roblox. Players build a business on a fantasy-themed island with money management advice from an interactive guide. The game is aimed at children between the ages of 10 and 14.
“As the role of virtual experiences in shaping early learning continues to grow among Canadian youth, it’s important that parents feel confident about the content their families consume,” said Emily Ross, vice-president of everyday advice journeys at TD. “Knowing just how impactful gaming channels can be, TD wants to provide secure fun and engaging opportunities fo youth to access valuable financial lessons that lay the groundwork for a successful financial future.”
