McDonald's forms deal with Roku

Fast food chain McDonald’s Canada has formed a promotional agreement with streaming television company Roku. Through this agreement, McDonalds will be the first Canadian fast food company to make use of new advertising technology that will allow consumers to place delivery orders using a television remote control. The promotion includes a “branded building” as part of the brand’s “Roku City” screensaver, as well as video ads and a home screen ad.

“This is an innovative way for brands to connect with streamers and present them with a new experience,” said Chris Faulds, senior account executive for  platform advertising at Roku Canada. “Partnerships like this are a great example of the evolving marketing landscape with connected TV. These collaborations put the transactability that brands know and love from other display and social channels into the context that TV streaming offers for better reach, measurement and engagement.”
