Toronto-based charitable organization Reel Canada has signed a series of promotional agreements in support of its 10th annual National Canadian Film Day initiative. On April 19, approximately 1,300 live events will take place nationally, accompanied by 120 international events in 45 countries. Cineplex will return as a founding sponsor and will host film screenings nationally. Landmark Cinema will also provide a number of venues. Additional sponsors include the Network of Independent Canadian Exhibitors, MediaFilm and Global Affairs Canada.

Participating media companies include Hollywood Suite, APTN, Bell Media, Corus, Superchannel, CBC, APTN, Cinépop, CHCH, Out TV, Blue Ant Media, Wild Brain, VisionTV, Uvagut TV and Game TV, along with streaming services Netflix, CBC Gem, Crave, The Roku Channel and the National Film Board.

“National Canadian Film Day is about connecting our great national cinema with audiences everywhere,” said Sharon Corder, artistic director of Reel Canada. “Its success is based on the enthusiasm and engagement of literally hundreds and hundreds of partners in every corner of the country. CanFilmDay is something the whole country can agree on.”
