Children of the Street begins new campaign

Children of the Street, a not-for-profit organization based in Port Coquitlam, BC, has begun a new campaign called “Would You Put Your D*ck Here?” Developed by Will of Vancouver, the campaign is intended to raise awareness of the risks of sharing sexually explicit images and videos of themselves among teenage boys. The effort seeks to communicate that online requests for such imagery may be lead to extortion or blackmail. The campaign consists of out-of-home advertising, social media content and online videos. The creative depicts various dangerous places for male genitals, including an online message. The eight-week campaign will run in the Vancouver area, as well as online at <http://www.dontputyourd1ckhere.ca>.

“Because of the urgency around this issue, we needed a provocative message to get teen boys to pay attention,” said Will executive creative director Lisa Lebedovich. “They often see sextortion as a girls’ issue, and it often isn’t even on their radar to think they could be at risk. This makes them an easy target. So our challenge was to find a tone to appeal to them and get the awareness out in a way that would spread.”
