Walmart, Diabetes Canada ready screening initiative

Walmart Canada and charitable organization Diabetes Canada will conduct a joint in-store promotion in Nov. 14, which is World Diabetes Day. During the effort, participating Walmart stores will offer free type two diabetes screenings and consultations to consumers. Walmart pharmacists will conduct blood sugar screenings and CANrisk questionnaires. In addition, Walmart opticians will provide self-assessments for general eye health and diabetic retinopathy.
“We are very proud to partner with Diabetes Canada to help educate and inform about diabetes prevention,” said Shelly Kiroff, senior pharmacy vice-president at Walmart Canada. “Our trusted pharmacists and opticians always want to help as many customers as possible and our commitment to our customers' health and well-being is stronger than ever. We invite Canadians to take part in our in-store screening event on Nov.14 and to speak with one of our many certified diabetes educator pharmacists for more information on diabetes management and prevention strategies.”
