Walmart issues new loyalty program Mastercard

Walmart Canada has introduced a co-branded Walmart Rewards World Mastercard as part of its loyalty program. Users will receive loyalty rewards in dollar denominations rather than points in order to simplify the collection and redemption processes. Users will receive three percent of the value of their purchases at Walmart.ca, 1.25% at physical Walmart stores and gas stations, and one percent any other time the card is used for a payment. Reward Dollars can be redeemed in five dollar increments at Walmart stores or online. New applicants for the must have an annual household income of $100,000 or more to be eligible. The Walmart Rewards World Mastercard is issued by Duo Bank of Canada.
“Walmart customers have been asking how they can earn Walmart Rewards faster, we are excited to be able to provide them more ways to help them save money and stretch their budgets further,” said Terry Mathews, vice-president of financial services at Walmart Canada. “The Walmart Rewards World Mastercard was developed with Walmart customers in mind and the Walmart Reward Dollars program focuses on giving them extra value on life's everyday things.”
