CTV, Harlequin signs branded movie development deal

CTV and Harlequin Studios have signed a content development agreement by which the two companies will collaborate on the production of original movies. The agreement includes a planned 20 made-for-television films that will run on the recently-rebranded CTV Drama Channel in a Harlequin-branded programming block. The movies will be based on existing Harlequin book titles. The first of these movies will debut in the fourth quarter of 2019.

“Harlequin movies are an ideal match for CTV Drama Channel, a service which serves female 18-to-54 viewers,” said Mike Cosentino, president of content and programming at Bell Media. “Our partnership with Harlequin not only fuels our viewer's desires for rich storytelling, but also illustrates our commitment to invest in programming that sets CTV Drama apart from the competition.”
