Roots, Air Canada conduct sweatpants promotion

Clothing retailer Roots conducted a promotion today in collaboration with Air Canada timed to coincide with "International Sweatpants Day." During a flight from Vancouver to Melbourne, Australia, the 250 passengers received surprise gift packages containing sweatpants, a hooded sweatshirt and a leather passport holder. According to Air Canada, the Vancouver to Melbourne flight is its longest non-stop route. The promotion also includes a contest component. Prizes include Air Canada flights and packages of Roots merchandise.

"We believe that wherever your journey takes you, travel in comfort and style," said Karen Zuccala, vice-president of marketing at Roots. "With a growing Roots brand community in Australia through our international e-commerce platform, and Vancouver to Melbourne ranking as one of the longest flights in the world, joining together with Air Canada to celebrate International Sweatpants Day was a perfect fit. This is one of the many exciting initiatives we have planned to continue to share our brand with the world."
