BANK OF MONTREAL INTRODUCES VIRTUAL BANK
By Adnews Staff
The Bank of Montreal launched a new division in Canada this week that will allow customers to do their banking without ever going to a bank branch. Instead they will be able to handle their banking needs via the Internet, by phone and by fax. The division, called mbanx, will be introduced in the U.S. in two weeks through the Bank of Montreal's Chicago-based subsidiary, Harris Banks. It will be launched in Mexico in the future through Bancomer, which has 925 branches in the country. Customers using mbanx will be assigned a personal banking representative so if they have any problems with their services they have just one person to deal with. In Canada, national TV, print and radio ads support the launch of mbanx. The ads were created by Vickers & Benson Advertising of Toronto. Teaser TV, print and radio ads began at the beginning of the month.
