PRICE INFLUENCES OTC PURCHASES, NOT ADS

Only 2% of Canadians say advertising is the key factor in influencing private label over-the-counter medication purchases, according to ACNielsen of Markham, Ont. Only 3% rely on in-store displays and 6% rely on product literature. Fifty-eight per cent say the biggest influence in buying private label OTC medication is price, while 29% say it is pharmacists' recommendations. Two per cent rely on other drug store staff recommendations.
