INTERNATIONAL COMPANY BUYS SOUTHEX EXHIBITIONS

The Daily Mail and General Trust plc of London, England, has bought Southex Exhibitions. The trade show operator was owned by Toronto-based Southam Inc. Southex is a North American trade and consumer show management company which produces over 90 events in 38 cities. DMGT has interests in newspapers, periodicals, broadcasting, conferences and video and directory publishing, in addition to a show company, DMG Exhibition Group Ltd. The show company produces over 110 trade and consumer shows across Europe, Asia and South America. DMG managing director Michael Franks says in a release that the aim of the company is to build a worldwide network of consumer and trade exhibitions.
