Dairy Queen Canada begins S'mores Blizzard song contest

Ice cream chain Dairy Queen Canada has begun a contest promotion in support of its S'mores Blizzard. Until June 30, consumers can enter the contest at <http://www.smoresong.com> by submitting a one-minute video presenting a new verse for the song used in the Dairy Queen commercial about the product. The company will then select three finalists and post the videos online for public voting. The winner will receive $10,000, while the runner-up will receive a $1,000 Dairy Queen gift card and the third place finisher will win one free Blizzard per month for a year. Visitors to the website can also download sheet music and a ringtone version of the song, or enter daily and weekly draws.

"S'mores are the quintessential treat for summer and we wanted a song that would get our fans singing and celebrating the joy of summer," said Denise Hutton, vice-president of marketing at Dairy Queen Canada. "This video contest is a fun way for us to engage with our fans. With the rise of Youtube sensations and Canadian superstars, it's obvious that there are so many talented musicians in our local communities. We are happy to give some of those singers and musicians another outlet for them to showcase their talents and possibly be discovered."
